If you caught the last two episodes of ABC's Once Upon a Time, (episodes titled "Second Star to the Right" and "Straight on Til Morning"), you'll have seen the EVIL Peter Pan's Shadow! While MY Pan is also evil, THIS is a whole different ball of such, and something very clever that I never thought about before (of course I've thought about incorporating the shadow in my story, but I don't have a fit for it yet, as it was re-attached in the book, and my story takes place after the book).
Anyway, I thought I'd just write this stream of thought for no other reason than just to do it. I'm really enjoying their stories and looking forward to going to Neverland next season rather than going back to the Enchanted Forest with the boring, sexually repressed characters I'd grown to hate in the first half of this last season.
ABC's Once Upon A Time has cast Colin O'Donoghue as Captain Hook. Looks-wise, he's a much better cast than Rhys Ifans, who was cast as Hook in Neverland. So, I approve so far. Plus it's ABC (Disney), so they'll be moderately true to the legend. I've never seen him in anything, so we shall see...
Doing the final pencils of page two, but now I'm dissatisfied with the character design. Again.
In other news, check out the teaser for an episode of season two of ABC's Once Upon a Time!
Weeks after seeing this, I finally dreamed of OUAT - tagging along with Rumpelstiltskin (the best character on the show) on an interesting adventure. Hints were dropped about who he is, really. I held his right hand with both of mine and asked if he's really Captain Hook. He insinuated Yes. Came in close to my face, so our lips barely touched, and whispered something very important to me.
I'll bet you thought I forgot about you, didn't you? OH MY GOD, YOU DID!!!
I haven't worked on the comic since December, but I soon shall. Soon you will see ALL the comics I've been working on. For now, here are the final rough drafts of the first five pages of I Married James Hook, sans word balloons.
The basic jist of what's going on in these pages, is Valentine is going around, checking on the progress of re-constructing the Jolly Roger, post-Lost-Boys-attack. A belligerent Pirate (uuummmm... I think that's Biggs) is getting mouthy about his workload when he wants to be throwing down on the Lost Boys, and how Hook wouldn't have put up with this crap. Valentine verbally bitch-slaps him and assures him they'll fight when their haven is secure, and reminds him that Hook is dead and she's in charge. Then she checks on the port (or starboard; it's kind of ambiguous at this point) and helps out with a stubborn plank of wood (she dives off because it's been a dull day).
The mermaids play an important role in the story, so I've drawn one. It's not exactly the way I wanted it to turn out, but then again, what has?
Also, I've drawn the dead indian princess Tiger Lily, whose name will probably end up being Tigress. I thought of naming her Empress of India (which is a lily), but I thought it was a mouthful. Oh also, she is a ghost.
It's almost done! Just the background and touch-ups left. Oh, and also the context, but I haven't gotten that far yet, and I'm dreading to do so almost as much as I am with Molly's Never-Back Story... also, there's a couple books, Peter and the Whatevers, where the lead girl is named Molly. So... I might end up changing her name. *dread*
My next character designs will be Tiger Lily and Kat and I'll start working on the thumbnails for Molly's Far-Back story.
quick edit: Maybe Valentine/Valentina? That way, she'd still be named after me. And what a dashing Pirate name, t'boot!
